HOUSTON – (April 22, 2009) Broadpoint congratulates the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Mobile Command Unit on its recognition as 2008’s “Outstanding 9-1-1 Call Center” by the E9-1-1 Institute and the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).
The award, presented during E9-1-1’s sixth annual “9-1-1 Honors Gala” in Washington, D.C., recognizes the group’s exceptional service during Hurricane Ike. The devastating storm destroyed law enforcement and public service facilities and communication networks in many Gulf Coast cities, threatening a loss of 9-1-1 services at a critical time. The HCSO was able to respond immediately, moving its Mobile Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) and other Mobile Command Units into the damaged areas to provide constant and seamless communications to area residents and emergency response agencies.
Broadpoint is honored to support the life-saving work of HCSO. The two organizations have partnered over a number of years, with Broadpoint providing the HCSO with the customized satellite technology necessary to support the Mobile PSAP and the other emergency Mobile Command Units.
